My Background - Avtar
From the Punjab region of India, home of Bhangra folk dance, I grew up listening to Bhangra music legends and watching iconic Bollywood films (from colourful happy sing-a-longs to tragic melodramas) in the Hindi language.

After moving to the South West of England I began running Indian Cultural Workshops to share my knowledge of India and it's rich culture.

Dance is a big part of Indian festivals and celebrations. In our workshops children are introduced to a variety of music and dance styles from the 28 states in India - including traditional Indian dance, folk dance, Bhangra and Bollywood films.

We can offer sessions that are tailored to meet the school curriculum and develop understanding of diversity and knowledge of other cultures.
Please look at the 'tabs' at the top of this page for information on specific workshops - Diwali, Holi, Vaisakhi and Sikhism as well as an Incredible India! Workshop - an introduction to Indian culture and day to day life.

Workshops are interactive and questions are encouraged. I am bilingual (English and Punjabi).
